Just came back from the local Ford dealer. No steel stampings available. Apparently this is a "thing" that the crew behind the counter were aware of as I guess it gets asked every now and again these days. They did check inventory in the hopes of new re-pops but no luck - didn't say no out of...
Hmm, so used to scrounging it never occurred to me to try the dealer directly. The public online interface says NLA but I don't know if that actually looks at individual dealer shelved inventories.
Thanks, will try that.
Failing that I'll have to make something I guess.
Btw, have you welded...
Hi All,
I parked my 2001 Expedition during the pandemic and now I'm working towards getting her back on the road.
Made the mistake of parking on grass, lots of extra rust to deal with now.
I've been looking for OEM body parts but seems like most stuff is no longer available.
I'm planning to...
If I was to do it again this is the approach I would take - just replace the cross member either by cutting up a new sheet metal radiator shroud or bending up some raw sheet metal to the correct shape.

It's not for everyone. Remember that your use case is not the...

Towing a trailer for 8-14 hours a day for several days at highways speeds with the engine spinning at 3k+ RPM sucks. Not recommended if you value comfort at all during your road trips.

Fatique wear / breakage due to crap materials. Guessing vane(s) came off first and jammed the impeller and the drive ripped/ peeled the impeller from the shaft.
Assuming this was a no-name brand part and not Motorcraft or similar quality part.
Yes, exactly. It's a city car. If I lived and worked in a dense city I'd consider one for going to work or something of that nature. I'd still have a "real car" for anything else.
The rad support I got is adequate. Like you said, it will need some hammer massage to get everything lined up. Mine still isn't done (didn't get it finished in the fall and I need to work outside). I need to sand, treat, paint, etc the support and doing that in poor weather is a waste of time so...
Yeah, a lot of dealers are the absolute worst place to get a vehicle diag. If it doesn't fit a normal wear item replacement pattern on a newish vehicle they are lost it seems.
Sad but that's been my experience. Local dealer tried to get me to do a $2K timing chain replacement on my A4. Indy...
