Questions about switching oils due to high mileage
rwinsouthla, More then likely you are fine if you keep to the oil changes. If you ever wonder or worry about it you could grab some used oil at change time and ship it off for analysis... I've used Blackstone once on my daily driver Subaru: Blackstone Labs Test runs about $25 bucks...- Whack

Electric Supercharger?
The blower can't actually add enough pressure to add any boost. Little example... The supercharger on the Merc SLR McLaren takes about 120 hp just to run... it can create 13psi of boost for the 5.5L engine. Which 'book' says Mercon? Since the User Manual says Mercon SP, that is what you need to use. Mercon was phased out in the early 2000s and Mercon V is on the way out.- Whack

Coils
Of the 2V, 3V, and 4V coils for the modular V8, 2 are straight and 1 is bent. The 2V is bent, the 3V and 4V are straight, but the 4V is long and skinny compared the the 3V The 3 valve one for your truck look like this...- Whack

Neutral is needed. My 2006 will lock out the shift from 4HI to 4LO if it isn't in neutral! +1 to Mindgame for the fluid swap too!- Whack

The limited slip version (code H6) rear makes a big difference. I've been in the same issue pulling a lighter vehicle, but had complete success in 4lo From my understanding the Limited slip was an option for 2005 and 2006, and not all had it. You might be able to source a used one pretty...- Whack

It would depend on age and miles of the transmission. I've seen it help older transmissions. Higher mileage ones may benefit, but it is really dependent on it's service history. If the fluid is changed often and the trans hasn't been overheated, I doubt it would do much. If it has been...- Whack

What should I do with my transmission??
I've done fluid swaps on other transmissions all the way up to 178,000 miles. Dropping the pan and checking the fluid will tell you a lot about the transmission. All the evidence that it will blow up an old transmission is not backed up, or was done on transmissions that were set to fail...- Whack
