Did you check to make sure nothing is blocking it from going down fully? Is the center seat belt disconnected? Also check that the second row seats aren’t overly reclined or they can block the 3rd row from being able to go down fully.
No need for Cayla’s info. We reached out to Ford on Twitter and provided the information on our situation. Later the same day we got a call from the dealership and they received approval from Ford for the transmission replacement and now have it on order for us.
Hi George,
I'm thinking it may be time to get Cayla's information from you. The dealership has now had my vehicle for almost 7 weeks. The replacement parts required to rebuild the transmission are completely unavailable from Ford. The dealership has been attempting to contact other dealerships...
Left it with the service department today. They said they need to tear the whole transmission apart and they will need to keep my car for at least a month. They said it isn't safe to drive but their one transmission tech won't be able to even start on it for at least 2 weeks and then will need...
Any update on how this all played out?!
My 2018 MAX with 56,000 miles just started having the power loss transmission problem yesterday. The warning popped up in Ford app and wrench symbol on the dash. After parking and turning it off, wrench symbol went away but the same power loss issue on...
The 3rd row has 3 top tether anchor points (used for forward facing seats) on the backs of the seats and 2 sets of lower anchors (for outer seats only) in the seat crease.
Lower anchors are an alternative to the vehicle seat belt for installing car seats (rear or forward facing) and can also...
Oh and the RodiFix is quite a bit wider than the Clek Foonf. The Foonf is 17” at the widest point. The RodiFix flares out to about 19.5” in the torso side wings.
I’m a Child Passenger Safety Technician (aka car seat tech), mom of 3, 2018 Expy MAX owner and former 2011 Pilot owner.
With the RodiFix and 2 very slim backless boosters, you could fit all 3 in the 3rd row. The backless boosters would need to be extremely slim. If the oldest 2 are both at...
I had posted on the other thread with pics of mine. Apparently it is a known issue by Ford. The replacement clear ring piece has been updated to be thicker/more substantial for the replacement. Luckily mine is still under the original warranty.
Sunglasses (in their case). Hubby’s sunglasses go in the conversation mirror flippy thingy and mine go in the passenger above the glove box flippy thingy.
I also keep a Resqme window breaker/seat belt cutter in there.
This just happened to my 2018 last night. I went to put a water bottle in the cupholder and the whole thing collapsed into the console. I’m still under warranty so hopefully covered. What a terrible design this is.
That is great to hear. Have you tried reattaching it after removal to verify the power flip feature still works normally when you hit the power fold buttons and the head restraint flip button from the driver position?
Genuine question as there seems to be a piece of the equation I’m missing, if wanting to remove the 3rd row, why spend the extra for an Expedition instead of just getting a crew cab F-150 with a canopy?
More expensive definitely does NOT equal safer. The Diono Radians are more expensive since they have more modes (rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster) and they are quite heavy. They don’t make great boosters for most kids since the shoulder guide is fixed/non-adjustable. Many kids will have...
Before I even got to the end of your post and saw your 2 considerations I was going to suggest the Chicco KidFit as well as the Maxi-Cosi RodiFix. Both of them 100% work in the center seat. The KidFit is slightly more difficult to buckle but a bit more comfortable, converts to a backless booster...
I’d be hesitant to use anything harsh on the seat belts, especially the airbag ones. I’d probably start as gentle as possible and see how that goes. I’d mix up a warm water solution with some regular laundry detergent or dish soap and a high quality microfiber cloth to dip in the solution and...
The leather is no longer leather in the XLT with 202a. It is the synthetic active-x. No CD player and no side-wall push buttons to tip/slide the 2nd row outboard seats for 3rd row access.
GM still refuses to put head restraints in any of their center seating positions. I will never buy a vehicle that doesn’t provide basic whiplash prevention for all passengers. We have 3 kids and often keep all 3 in the 2nd row, thus we will never own a GM unless they resolve this issue.
Happens frequently to me as well (iPhone 7, iOS 13.5). My phone is starting to show some signs of aging (crappy battery life, Chrome often oh-snaps, apps have freezing issues) and we have so-so cell data in our area, so I figured it was just my phone doing its geriatric thing. Interesting to...
What brand car seats do you have? Certain brands allow/prohibit some seat protectors.
Depending on what your seats allow, there are certain seat protectors that I prefer.

I know very little about their actual real-world performance. They are a great idea in theory, but their limitations in regards to car seats and boosters would make me personally avoid them if you have kids. This YouTube video does a good job at explaining how they work in a crash to distribute...
