    Oil Change Interval in Winter

I used to change the oil at 9k miles, using Schaeffer’s 9000. I got tired of paying for it and switched to Ford blend every 8k miles. I currently have 175k miles. I’m not sure why you would change for the winter months unless you’re running thinner weight.

How many Miles on your 4th Gen Expedition

About 160k on our 2018. I had the cams done under warranty before 100k. They still rattle very briefly on startup. Wastegates rattle. I replaced a vvt solenoid last summer. Replaced both upstream o2 sensors. I do oil changes at a minimum of 8k miles. I have put plugs in once since I’ve owned it...

    Which oil for 22 Expedition

Here, I posted it sometime back https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/just-replaced-the-vvt-solenoid.51424/

    Which oil for 22 Expedition

I use Schaeffers 9000 Full Synthetic at 9k-10k intervals, mileage over 150k. The top end is very clean inside. Though I’ve always used Motorcraft in every other Ford I’ve owned without issue.

Heater hose under cam phaser recall?

I bought an aluminum y-fitting at the parts store, cut all three hoses and hose clamped them, that was 30-40k miles ago and it’s still perfectly fine. $10 and 30 minutes. HOWEVER, the same hose which runs from the firewall to the radiator is now leaking at the steel pinch clamping directly under...

    Transmission fluid change interval

No, it had 50-60k when I purchased it in 2011

    Transmission fluid change interval

I own a 2006 f150 2x4 with 253k, and I’ve never done anything except change the oil, one wheel bearing, and an alternator. Never even flushed the coolant, never touched the transmission. I drive it everyday and have pulled trailer loads of wood with it multiple times. Experiences can vary when...

    Transmission fluid change interval

I am approaching 145k, and I have never changed the fluid—2018 Limited with very little towing and fairly easy highway miles since I purchased at 60k. It was a rental car prior to my purchase. I’ve yet to have a transmission concern.

    Engine Backfire

For anyone interested, here is what the backfire did to the muffler. It blew this baffle (which should be square with the cut lines) out of place. This definitely did not result in a performance upgrade.

    Engine Backfire

It actually is hilarious. Yesterday I was passing by a road crew of convicts and it sounded like a 12-gauge went off. They probably all got a good pat down after that. However, the wife doesn’t think it too hilarious.

    Engine Backfire

No… It ONLY happens after refuel. I can drive all day, go to the store, go to eat, go anywhere, and then if I stop for gas and fill up, it backfires. An issue shared by many per the 4 threads I posted. It’s not a tuning issue.

    Engine Backfire

Thanks. Again, this ONLY happens after a fuel-up. What’s the correlation with the tune?

    Engine Backfire

Seems to be a common issue with Raptors and 150s https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2018-backfire-only-after-fill-up-fuel-puddling-466214/ https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/exhaust-backfire.67699/

    Engine Backfire

I have a 2018 approaching 150k. I have a bad backfire (gunshot) after filling up with fuel. I do not top off the tank, and last time I got fuel I stopped a few gallons short. The back fire actually broke the muffler internally. Couple things: my cats are removed and the sensors turned off for...

2019 Expedtion oil leaks and power train malfunction, power reduced

I’m pretty sure this is your problem/repair. Sounds like the issue I had and this resolved it. Thread 'Just replaced the VVT Solenoid' https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/just-replaced-the-vvt-solenoid.51424/

    Just replaced the VVT Solenoid

I didn’t look around much, I was in a hurry. But my symptoms were coming on during normal driving conditions and at idle and were clearly some kind of malfunction. I do get the rattle at startup and I expect there’ll be more work to be done in the future. By your description it sounds like a...

    Just replaced the VVT Solenoid

I thought I’d post this for informational purposes. The Check Engine Light on my 141k 2018 came on. After reaching operational temperature the car began shuddering. At idle, the RPM dropped and steadied frequently. I was notified that “the Engine Control System detected that one of the internal...

    Cat delete

There are two. And they’re probably not bad (I.e. they’re probably doing fine in terms of reducing emissions.) I am coming to the conclusion that Ford has developed an overly sensitive emissions system—from what I have read and now personally observed.

    Cat delete FOLLOW-up

No I didn’t. I took the cue from other high-mileagers who are going to the dealer and having the converters replaced. I didn’t see the sense in throwing money at it (at this point I have no money in it and am out only time) before I knew the state of the converters. Whether the cats are clean...
