99 4X4 5.4L need to turn off all four wheel drive

I have a shifting issue, I get that THUMP when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd when I give it to much gas. I think its the chain in the trans that holds the ring and pinyon to the transfer case. I think if i could turn off all 4X4 functions it will go away. Anyone know of a fuse or way to tell the computer I don't want it to use 4 wheel drive. the truck has 199K and she worn out I live in Florida and don't really have any use for the 4x4.

Look up Brown Wire Mod. There is also a fuse you can pull - blanking on the exact number.

Fuse 104 under the hood controls 4x4 functions. Put it in A4WD and just pull the fuse.

thanks Fordandpolaris just want to know why i need the truck in 4X4 when i pull the fuse? will it stay in 4X4 all the time
