any restoration stories (with photos)

I have a 2001 XLT. It was quite nice when my wife bought it 6 years ago but she lost interest and it became my car and gas was expensive so I just neglected it and beat it and let it deteriorate.

Now I finally have a garage and I successfully replaced the intake and I am chasing down other little engine problems.

I'm on a course to bring this car back to something we can take family trips in.

I'd love to hear of other peoples experience in bringing back a neglected first gen.

Ditto here. My wasn't neglected, but has almost 300K on it and was showing it's age.

Went to the junk yard and found some good replacement interior parts. I painted the other interior parts, added some weathertech mats

and put bedliner in the rear.
Also did some painting on the front grill.

not neglected, but definitely transformed. It went from being cared for to being just plain babied.
