I always hated that I cant see whats inside our console box at night and I dont like illuminating the whole cabin especially while driving

had extra time on the weekend, and this is what I did

I tapped into the 12V rear socket so its always hot. I also installed a door trigger that can be switched off temporarily if in case I need to leave the lid open, I can off the light.

the lamp and the trigger switch is from the glove box of a Mercedes 190E

goona try this with and led light strip and a glove box switch from just about anything will work

This is great. I'm always shining my phone flashlight in there to look for things. Even when the vehicle is parked, you can't see much with the dome light as soon as you lean over the console to look for something.

I removed my CD changer from the console. It comes right out with a few screws and nearly doubles the storage space.

I wonder if you could even borrow 12v from the old CD changer wiring for a center console lamp.
