Great idea, did you fill it in at all tge places I'm pointing in tgese pics or just one? Is it noticeably ugly?I had the same problem on my 99 XLT. If I remember right from the insides of one that I saw at a junkyard, there are some small plastic tab type fasteners that hold the pieces of the mirror case together in there that cause this annoying problem when they get broken. I have no idea how to fix this properly other than replacing the whole mirror, BUT...what I did was use some black RTV cement and filled the seam on the mirror case (it's just forward of where your fingers are in your pic). That solved the problem for me. It's been about a year now without the rattle. hope this helps
