climate control swap

Hi there, I m new to this forum and not sure if i should ask this in interior or electrical but here goes. I am looking at buying a 2003 expedition. i really want an eddie bouer but i also want a gray interior that only comes in the xlt. the one i found has the sunroof and gray int i want but no climate control. and now my question is can i change the 3 knob ac controls for the digital climate control unit? is it an easy swap... just change out the dash panel and control unit or is it more involved

digital climate control is famous for problems same style unit for most fords and they all seem to have problems very expensive to replace

Knock on wood mine have been fine. Not sure about what It would take to swap them.
