Has anyone here done a compression test for these engines, especially the 5.4?

Any advice?

All you need is a compression tester and a repair manual for normal values. And disable the ignition first and throttle should be fully open.

Shut off your fuel pump and turn the engine over a few times to relieve fuel system pressure. Technically they say to unplug all spark plugs and fuel injectors. Personally, I didn't. Up to you. After hooking up the tester, engage the starter for about 5 seconds (give or take). Record the number and repeat to get a good average. Then move on to the next cylinder. I did this on the 5.4 and it is fairly easy.
