drive hatch open

Is it possible to stop the rear hatch before it is closed, without it going back up? I want to carry something a bit longer that will not fit with hatch closed.

Sorry, should have said power.

Pull the liftgate down to where you want it and push and hold the power button for a few seconds, it should stay there. When you're done with your cargo, lift the liftgate all the way open again and push and hold the power button for a few seconds so it relearns the new open position.

You could also do this with the hatch closed and the window open. I recently hauled some 16 foot lumber that way.

To close this thread, My 2013 Expedition did not have the "push and hold the power button for a few seconds, it should stay there" feature. However I figured out I could simply pull the door down, tie it and drive away.
