E Brake dosent always come on when brake is engaged

I have a 2000 expy and just today i noticed the emergency brake light wasnt on when i started the car today for work. Then after i had gone in the house and came back out (leaveing the car on while i was gone) it had came on . When I had gotten to work i engaged the e brake to see if the light would come on and it did not . After a couple of trys with
disengageing it and engageing it it came on . Does anyone have any ideas ?? Any advice would be apprieciated.

It has something to do with the e-brake switch. It happened on my 00 f150. I found it annoying but never fixed it.
