Over the weekend I noticed that every once in a while when I started to pull out from a stop, I heard a grinding, binding sound. I replaced the front brakes because I new that they were going and decided to check the emergency brake because it never worked right. The emergency brake pedal always went to the floor and never held too well and I was looking for an adjustment. I remembered reading in one of the posts that the emerg. brake was a drum brake separate from the regular brakes, which are discs. I pulled the rotor/drum off, and the driver’s side was totally destroyed. There were pieces of brake shoe all over the place. That was what I was hearing, the pieces of brakes getting caught between the drum and what was left of the brake shoes. The passenger side was fine with a lot of life left.
