Engine temp and plug replacement?

I have been getting conflicting info from online write-ups and Youtube videos as to what the engine temperature should be at the time we attemt to replace the spark plugs, to minimize the chance of breaking them.
Should it be hot, warm or cold?
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
06 expy AWD 5.4 with 52,000 miles.
