Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a used 2000 Expedition XLT 5.4 and It's got some issues that I'm working on getting fixed and I need some advice. So, I'm working on changing out the plugs while making sure the COPS and boots are still looking good. I did 1-4 without any issues and then got 5-7 done without any major issues too.
So, I get to #8 and I instantly noticed something doesn't look right here. The COP is friggin zip tied to the #8 fuel injector and the bolt isn't sitting flush. I'm like wtf is going on here? I cut the zip tie and proceeded to remove the bolt, COP, and plug just fine.
The problem is I guess the PO jacked up the threads on the intake side where the bolt threads in. The brass sleeve is there and intact but it's stripped out. I need to know if the sleeve is removable or if I can tap it before I decide on attempting to repair this. I really don't wanna jack it all up worse than it is. Being that it's on the #8 it's a ***** to get to as it is so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Oh and the plugs were rusty and the gaps were all over .80 so they hadn't been done in ages.
This is for the PO who told me the COPS and plugs were all recently changed. Yeah right man!
