Door tag on drivers door has gear code under axle, H is 3.55 most common, or H9 is 3.55 limited slip fila571

Jay, like was mentioned, look on the door tag under "AXLE". You should see either an "H" followed by a number or an "L" followed by a number. From there, you can get on the internet and search on "ford axle code XX" where XX is the code you found in the door jam. You will find out more info than you ever wanted to know.

With that being said, as long as you have not messed with the setting of your speedo (ie, getting your ECM flashed), in short, if you are turning 2150 RPM at 72 MPH, you have 3.73 gears, if you are turning just under 2000 RPM, you have a 3.55, and if you are down around 1900 RPM, you have the 3.31 rear end. 3.31 rear ends are very rare and really only came in the 97/98 trucks with the 4.6L motor.
