Where is the inertia switch in the 17? I looked in the compartment where the liftgate motor is but I did see it there (that where it was on the 05).

Don't know Andy.....I'm not positive there is one but Habb's description sure made it sound like that's what cut his engine out because with a fuel injected engine, there's no other reason....wait a sec...I have a '16 Expy electrical book at home I bought on the net for 20 bucks as a "just in case"....I can look tonight if I remember.

Nope, it DOES have one......I found this in the Owners manual on page 222:

************************

In the event of a moderate to severe
collision, this vehicle includes a fuel pump
shutoff feature that stops the flow of fuel
to the engine. Not every impact will cause
a shutoff.
Should your vehicle shut off after a
collision, you may restart your vehicle. For
vehicles equipped with a key system:
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Switch on the ignition.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to re-enable the
fuel pump.
For vehicles equipped with a push button
start system:
1. Press the START/STOP button to
switch off the ignition.
2. Press the brake pedal and press the
START/STOP button to switch on the
ignition.
3. Remove your foot from the brake pedal
and press the START/STOP button
to switch off the ignition.
4. You can either attempt to start the
engine by pressing the brake pedal and
the START/STOP button, or switch
on the ignition only by pressing the
START/STOP button without
pressing the brake pedal. Both ways
re-enable the fuel system.

all vehicles equipped with an electric fuel pump will have a fuel pump cutoff switch (aka inertia switch) in the US per NHTSA

if there are exceptions I am not aware of them

Thanks Jeff. It sounds like an electronically reset switch instead of physically flipping the switch.

Well evidently, all those other cars/trucks involved in that crash didn't have them then! I would think they all had fuel pumps.

no, they have them

they just might not have got tripped but I can assure you they have them or you would be hearing stories of fuel system fires all over the news.
