Three things: 1. What is this piece? 2. Sidestep or no? 3. LED problems

I found this piece hanging on the P-brake line after putting my 2" spring spacers on:

Came off of this cable on the driver side

And, to side-step, or not to side-step, that is the question (opinion based, taking all criticism):

And I've had these problems since I put my LED front parking/turn signals and electronic flasher in:

1. that's a carrier for the parking brake cable, I will try to grab a pic

2. depends on if you use the steps or not, I use mine even though I can climb in easily enough, it's up to you really.

My busted a$$ knees require me to have running boards now that it's lifted. I think it looks better without running boards, but it's all personal preference.

nerf bars on lifted trucks personally

Do you consider the factory running boards to be nerf bars? When it gets lifted higher I'll either put the factory running boards back on or get some N-Fabs.
