I have another thread going on my rocker panel replacement
http://www.expeditionforum.com/f42/project-rocker-replacement-pics-21046/
I am not sure if anyone has posted anything like this because it seems so simple to at least help a little. I think the reason the rust starts on these first gen Expys and similar year Ford trucks is the way it is designed and holds moisture.
If you remove the black scuff trim pieces in your door jams there will be a few slots where the trim snaps into. Once I am all done with my replacement, paint and undercoating I am going to pour some thick oil in there on each side then park the truck on an incline each way so it reaches all corners inside the rockers
Remove these black pieces
You will be left with the open slots that the piece snaps into, pour oil down in there
When I was painting the door jams I also notices small drain holes in the bottom. Get some oil in there and it will work it's way down into the seam where the rust starts
