Are there any options to put in a better tranny such as a 6 speed auto in a 2005?
I have had it 2 yrs now and only 64K miles on it.
I pull a 31'(34'overall) TT weighs in 6600 dry so I pull it around 8k
it does ok once we get up to speed but with 1st gear running from 0 - 40 MPH and having to use WOT to get it on the interstate it can be tough.
Seems like it needs a lower first gear and then 1 inbetween 3rd and 4th for towing.

Maybe my TT is just to heavy but with a programmer is seems to run very well, and nice and cool, and shift nice and tight, just takes a lot to get up to speed and seems like its working too hard just for that time.

8K is a lot to tow, especially since the tow rating is only 6000lbs. I suggest upgrading to an SD or Excursion.

Easier to change the rear gear than the tranny. What's the current ratio?

Well axle code on door says 16 so looks like it is 3.73 open - that is disappointing I was hoping it was a 3.55 or taller and I could upgrade to a 3.73 for more low end power.
there probably isn't one in between 3.73 and 4.10
