So I just got back from a 1200 mile round trip to Virginia. When we hit I-95 and traffic was "cruising" at 80 MPH I noticed that when I stepped on it to get off the ramp and it had a slight hesitation. I did not think much about it but it continues to do it every now and then when I hae the cruise control on. It is slight but I do notice it. When it happens it feels like a slight bump then it goes away... Any suggestions?

Could be a coil misfiring. Bet it almost feels like you have a slipping tranny when the "bump" happens. I had coils 2 and 5 go bad and the "bump" would happen while on the cruise and hitting a slight incline where a bit more power was needed to maintain speed. I would call it more of a "stumble". Never got a CEL, but had the dealer do a power balance with the laptop and saw that 2 and 5 cylinders were lagging. Fixed my bump /stumble.

Yes I guess it would be more like a stumble. Happens more when I have the cruise set. What did it cost you to have the coil fixed? I am still under warranty should this be looked at prior to warranty expiration or would this not be covered under warranty?

I have the extended warranty on mine and just had to pay the deductible($100) for the repair. Lucky for me, the tech sat in the passengers seat monitoring the laptop while I drove and replicated the stumble. The power balance will show peaks and vallies in graph form if there is a misfire happening. Otherwise, straight flat graph. Mine spiked at cyl 2 and dropped at cyl 5 on the graph, made it real easy to see. Dropped in 2 fresh coils, good to go, that was at @42k mi.
If still in warranty, let them deal with it. I'd hate to say its common, but it does happen more than it should.

I had a myriad of electronic issues with my '08. Was beginning to get familiar with the Service Mgr at the dealership (throtle body, RSC issues, transmission shifts, rear glass ajar notice, PWR window motor super slow, cracked lug nut, rear brakes on one side worn out before the front?!?!?!) You should definitely have it looked at while warranty is in effect. I have had so many problems with my '08 I purchased an extended warranty for the first time on any vehicle I have owned (I miss my '99 EB). Moral of the story, take it in before your warranty expires. They do not like to tell you, but you are entitled to a rental for up to 10 days if they have to keep the vehicle to figure it out. We only found out because we called Ford customer care.

i have the same thing...but then again...i always have...from day way if i punch it like that i wont take off right away...i've always had the delay...matter of fact...i raced a co-worker in his armada 5.8...he got me on the jump because of that but the 5.4 finally kicked in and he stayed a half car link ahead...but to my disadvantage...i have it programmed in gas saver mode...if i had performance setting on...i tend to think i would have had him
