Just wondering what you guys are using for engine oil.

Brand?
Weight?
Conventional or synthetic?

I just bought a 00 4.6L and will be changing the oil for the first time this weekend. Thanks

Grab the weight stated in your manual... The Ford Modular V8 series is notorious for wanting the correct spec oil weight. Even using a slightly thicker oil can really mess up the engine... On mine I can even prompt the check engine lite with thicker oil (VCT issues)

Synthetic is good call, but the Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic isn't half bad if you can find it cheap.

Another important item is the filter. It may sound strange, but the spec Motorcraft filter is about the best out there for the price. I use it in mine with Mobil 1.

i've telling them from day one of my contributions to the site...USE MOTORCRAFT FILTERS...now i have some backup...lol

I'm thinking Motorcraft 5w-20 blend or Walmart super tech 5w-30 synthetic.

5w20 synthetic. . . I once tried a different weight, but switched back after hearing weird ticking noises from the engine.
