My 2001 AWD Expy with 5.4 and towing package has stock tires 255/70/16

My spare happens to be 245/75/16

According the tire size calculator it is 1.3% smaller.

Planning a camping trip next weekend. If i get a flat is it a serious problem to run on the spare?

I've heard tire size differences really matter on AWD but is that a big enough difference?

We only use this truck for occasional camping so if i happen to wreck a tire I would probably just return home on the spare and deal with the problem on the next trip.

Unless you guys tell me i will shred my transfer case by driving on this tire.

thanks

If you get a flat pull fuse number 104 in the fuse block under the hood. This will disable the A4wd. Not sure how much of a buffer the gem allows as far as speed differential so this would keep everything happy. Just no 4wd..

its a .4 inch tire difference. it wont matter too much. youll be fine as long as you dont floor it around corners. its like having a bald tire with a new tire.

If its a good spare find a used tire dealer trade the smaller tire for a exact size one. If you are really worried
