I just bought a 99 EB 4x4 about 3 weeks ago. It had 66,000 miles, which is pretty low for that year. I would recommend the Eddie Bauer over the XLT because of the interior and exterior extras. I would definetly go with the 5.4L instead of the 4.6L engine. I have heard people complain the 4.6L is a little underpowered. If you want to spend a little extra, I would get a 1999 or up because they increased the hp from 240 to 260 from 1998 to 1999 on the 5.4 L. As for 4x4 or not, it depends if you think you need it or not. The 4x4 is heavier and gets worse gas mileage than the 2x4. The 2x4 has a greater towing capacity than the 4x4. But I think the 4x4 looks better because it sits higher off the ground and has 17inch wheels as oppose to 16s on the 4x2. Also, the 4x4 has bigger gas tank (30 gallons) which I don't know is a plus or not.........$$$$$$
