A/C on when When Panel/Floor selected

I noticed this last weekend that the A/C compressor would run when on the Panel/Floor selection (Manual Climate control). The compressor didn't run when just on panel. I didn't check defrost. The A/C and Max position worked properly The air did blow out of the proper vents that were selected. What would cause this?

Mine seems to do that too.

I found out that the compressor operates in in all positions except OFF, FLOOR, and PANEL. I guess that made sense to some engineer at Ford.

yea it runs all the time when you turn the climate controls on. i forgot the reason behind it but if your at wide open throttle it cuts it off.
