2008 Ford Expedition Limited 2WD - Hard Shifting occasionally

Wifes 2008 Expedition Limited is downshifting a little harder than it should. I believe this is happening when coming to a stop and a lower speeds.

She called the dealership and they recommend bringing it for "recalibration". When I get home in a week, I will see what and when it is happening and bring it over to the dealership.

My question, has anyone else experienced this problem with the later model Epeditions? This is the second one we own, the prior was a 2004, never had a issue. Appreciate any feedback.........

I haven't ever had an issue like that on my 03. Some of the newer explorers with the 6spd auto had to go in for a recalibration as well due to harsh shifting specifically when dropping into 1st gear and stopping. It probably just adjusts the shift setting/firmness.

don't mean to thread jack but i have a similar issue in my 05. it has the 5.4l and is an xlt. when i give it a little throttle it kicks pretty hard and then shifts. when i give it a lot of throttle it doesn't do it and it doesn't do it at all with the overdrive turned off. any thoughts?

Thanks davesexpedition. Just needed to hear that we're not getting the shaft from the dealership. I'll have them check it out and post back with the results. Thanks.

I hate to say it but give the stealership a try. I know with the explorers like I said they reflashed the PCM, I'm guessing to adjust the shifts. See if they have something available for you?

My problem in my expy was that my shifts were getting slower/more sluggish. The cortex changed that for the time being.
