Well the other day while putting in my new headlights I accidentally killed the battery... no big deal hooked up charger and good to go.... however... when I got in to drive I looked up at the "miles to empty" and it said 310... and I was at a half of tank... I usually dont get more than 270 on a whole tank... anyone know what happened there or how to reset it so its accurate...

My wife's suv will do the same thing on occasion. It will reset it self. These things tend to be a guess at the available distance. Trust your gas gauge until it resets.

I ran up on a thread on another site where the husband was blaming the wife for running out of gas on the interstate and her reply was the miles to empty
display told her she had 10 miles to go. The guy wanted to know why the car was wrong. The blind leading the blind.
Call me old school but i always check my gas gauge to my trip odometer(which i reset each fill up). I have not run out of gas in 25 years.

so I ran the expy down to about 1/4 a tank and it still said 110 miles to go... so I filled it up today and it said 410.... i dont know what stock expys get but I sure as hell dont get that I've gotten 300 once when i drove all highway usually i get around 275ish on a full tank.... and its been almost a week now too

so anyone have any suggestions to reset it? I am thinking of trying to disconnect battery for a while then see what happens or look for a fuse to pull... i go by the mileage usually till it gets under 100 to empty then look at gas gauge from there so its kinda pain in the a$$ now.... I know i am lazy and dont like just looking at gauge.... i like my little led countdown that goes really fast in this "Anti-Hybrd"

I actually just filled my tank tonight... 363 Miles to Empty on my stock 06.

I am getting 12.7 by the computer right now, but it gets higher every day since I bought the truck. When I got it about a 3 weeks ago it was reading in the low 11's, but I do more highway driving M-F than anything else....Until summertime when I get it out on the beach.
