If the Expedition had the following engine options, which would you choose?

6.2L v8 411 hp 434 lb-ft 14/18 mpg
5.4L v8 320 hp 365 lb-ft 14/18
5.4L v8 supercharged 380hp 450 lb-ft 13/17mpg
3.7L V6 twin turbo charged 340hp 340lb-ft 16/23mpg

I forgot to include the diesel in the poll:( (poll fixed by admin 12-23-09)
4.4L Diesel 330 hp 520 lb-ft ~16/22mpg

All of these engines have been in the f150 or the 2011 f100.

I'm pretty disappointed how the Expedition only has 1 engine option.

I like the mpg's of the V6, but i'd be embarrassed to say I had it. If the 6.2 and the 5.4 both get the same mileage, and more power goes to the 6.2 I'd say 6.2L.

How could you live with yourself with a V6 Expedition. What's next, a 4 door Mustang? lol.

The 6.2L really does get the same mpg as the 5.4L. Yeah it would be embarassing to say you're sporting a v6, but it does make more hp and better mpg then the 5.4L.. good for people who use it as a family car

For everyday use, the 6.2L. But if you want to have some fun, the 5.4L supercharged. I had a Harley Davidson F150 with the Lightning engine and that was a blast, and you could pulley it to get a lot more out of it. I had it up to 400 HP and 484 lb/ft at the wheels (probably around 500 at the crank), and that was a pretty safe level for the engine.

one caveat

voted for the 5.4 supercharged engine but one caveat. Change the coil design and make the plugs more accessible.

Now that the diesel is in the poll, I might have to change my choice! lol. Would be nice to have that for towing my boat.

I can't believe how much torque the diesel has, that would be a towing beast. I think it's funny how nobody has voted for the engine the expedition actually comes with. I got my numbers a little mixed up on that one - the 2010 Expedition 5.4 has 310hp and 365lb-ft but the 2010 Raptor's 5.4L has 320hp and 390lb-ft.

I'd take the diesel. I like my 5.4L, but the towing power of the diesel with a big SUV would be great especially since the Excursion is not made anymore.

Diesel all the way. Shoot, I'd even go for a bigger diesel engine. TORX FTW :)

Hey, there was no diesel when I voted. Oh well, I'm sticking with the 6.2 anyway. It would just be cool to say you were running one!!!

diesel is the best choice but less people would buy it due to the $7000 it would add to the price of the vehichle. the epa has ruined diesels by putting limits on emissions equipment and even the fuel itself

There's no replacement for displacement, so I'm going to stick with the Biggest and the baddest. Put flat top pistons and do some other minor modifications and I think you could be up to 500hp in no time!

Diesel is the only way to go. Sure the new smog laws are trying to get rid of them, but when it comes down to just efficiency and power.... you cant get much better than a Diesel. Plus with the options of using Bio-diesel or Waste Veggie Oil, or even Propane injection, you can get some very nice power on the extreme cheap.

well i guess it would depend on what you want. if you want speed and family, i would use the turbo. but if you wanted the power for bigger tires, i would go with the 6.2. diesel is a good choice for towing too. i am torn between diesel and 6.2
