I have a non-Nav Sync 3 system that I previously successfully upgraded from 1.0 to 2.2. Now, I downloaded the official 2.3 update from Ford. Followed all the instructions: formatted 32GB flash as exFAT, unzipped, etc. I kept getting MEM_ERR03 error.

I found a post somewhere else that explained splitting the install, so I did that. The first part of the install was now successful and the system shows as updated. But the second part still fails with the same error. This second install is only trying to install the voice command data:

JL7T-14G391-BB.tar.gz - 1.1Gb

My autoinstall.lst for the second install contains only this:
[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]
Item1 = JL7T-14G391-BB
Open1 = SyncMyRide\JL7T-14G391-BB.tar.gz
Options = AutoInstall

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Lokiwolf has a thread covering many details and challenges of the upgrade.
Search out that thread, as it might already have your answer.

I spent quite a while searching this site and didn't find much. Maybe I'm missing that thread.

FYI - I also tried a Master Reset.

None of the recommended procedures at any of the provided links worked for my non-NAV. I had zero issues updating from the factory/original firmware to vers 2.2, but so far 2.3 has been frustratingly unattainable. :banghead:
I'm not going to waste any more time on it. I gave it the good fight. :emotions133:

Guess I'll wait until the next time I need to return to a dealer for warranty work. :rotflmao:

I think I'm in the same boat. It seems to be working fine without the voice update. Maybe I'll even wait for the next version before I mess with it again.

Sorry for the newb question, but when using the Wifi connected to mobil hotspot from a cellular phone, does the truck need to be stopped, or can it be in motion while checking for updates? Although I was able to update to 2.3 via USB, the log file was not created so unable to update Ford. Having read in this thread that running the Wifi update will solve that, despite having tried with the vehicle both parked and in motion with no success that in the last week, our 2017 Limited shows Sync 2.3 but with a 12/18/2017 as the date of the last check for update.

I have tried several times to download Sync 2.3 from Ford's website but no success. The download indicator sprirals around, never stops and there are no control buttons. Really very poor even juvenile attempt by Ford to allow owners to do their own updating on what should be a simple process. I have no faith that they will be able to do much of what they claim they will be doing in advanced auto electronics in a few years after fiddling with Sync.
I am taking my 2017 Expedition in for first service tomorrow to dealer and they claim if 2.3 is a Ford update they can do it, so will post their results when done.

This happened for me in Chrome but downloaded fine in Safari.

Also looking at this thread on another forum, seems to be a know issue with Non-Nav units:

http://www.fiestastforum.com/forum/threads/15585-SYNC-3-Update-(November-2017)/page3

So apparently "MEM_ERR03" is a known error across all models with non-nav sync 3 when trying to install from a USB drive. I've dug around on other forums to see if other ford owners have encountered the same issue and it's been the same across the board for non-nav cars.

Some have called Ford who says "they're aware". I might just wait for 3.0 now sine I thought 2.3 had the new Waze integration but it doesn't.

I had issues in mid January and mine involved two things to solve. First the Ford servers were having issues. The second is Ford didn’t zip the folders in a way that macOS could unzip as folders. Had to use StuffIt.
