How much is a typical holdback and advertising fee?

Holdback on the F150 is 3% of MSRP before destination charge. I'd assume it's the same for an expedition. Not sure about the advertising fee. Based on the price sheet posted earlier, holdback plus advertising would be about 4.65%.

Interesting, even if they provide the PIN for a friend?

A plan is Ford employees, D plan is employees of dealerships. Since I work at Lincoln, my pin must have the truck in my name as primary or secondary. (I’m assuming title since I didn’t finance). I want to say 6 months or so, I can check by generating a pin.

X-plan doesn’t have restrictions as severe, but consumers can typically haggle for similar price without pin.

Hope this helps...

You are welcome!

Want to drive to AZ to buy a car? Lol, seriously there are dealerships that want to sell volume and are willing to drop the price. They are harder to find but they are out there.

X-Plan
The X-Plan is actually two programs that equate to a discount for friends, family, and groups with special affiliations with Ford.

The Ford Partner Recognition X-Plan is essentially a supplier discount that members of certain companies that do business with Ford may qualify for.

The Friends & Neighbors X-Plan is a much broader set that can be used by employees and retirees to sponsor purchases by family and individuals outside their family.

How it's calculated: Invoice - 0.4% + $275 program fee

X-Plan is also for shareholders of the stock for 6 months leading up to X-Plan request to Ford. I can find the link, but it takes at least 100 shares.

X-Plan can also be found via a discount program called "Passport", similar to the old "Entertainment Book"s. I purchased my 2012 Expy via X-Plan via Passport.

You get it with a membership in ‘Mustang Club of America’ that’s $25 a year for membership. You have to have access to xplan for 90 days or something before you can use it to purchase.

A, D, X, and Z also limit dealership "administrative" fees to a reasonable $100. Very YMMV as some states limit these fees and others just let dealerships run wild. Jalopnik (I think) had an article where a Florida or Colorado dealer was getting like $800 a sale in excessive official looking fees. F&I guy was described as auctioneer style in getting documents signed.

With plan pricing the dealer is also forced to show the exact amount he is allowing for your trade - "actual cash value" something you won't find often in a traditional sale where over-allowing and smoke/mirrors and number fudging are more common place.

How do you guys afford an $80,000+ car? Even if you put down $20k that’s still $1000 per month for 60 months with 0%
