I noticed the rear part of the panoramic vista roof (the fixed glass pane) is cracked. Crack has spread all throughout the glass edge to edge. Look like it will shatter next time I hit a bit pothole. Assuming I get the replacement part from Ford, is this a simple replacement? It looks like most of the hardware is attached from the inside. Would prefer to do it myself than to pay a shop. Just curious to know if anyone has dealt with this before and can offer any advice?

Comprehensive auto insurance covers glass breakage - including the sunroof glass (minus your deductible), and it does not penalize you for filing the claim.

I've filed the claim, and the adjustor quoted the total cost of repair at $1900 (parts+labor). I have a $1,000 deductible, so I'm inclined to cash the insurance company check for $900 and do the work myself.

You might want to go to an auto glass company and get an estimate from them. Your insurance adjuster is not your friend.

I’ve had to replace 2 on F150s unfortunately. It is about a $2000 repair and an automotive glass company does the repair with the ford glass panel (dealer will send to glass company for repair in my 2 experiences). May be able to save a little by going straight to auto glass company, possibly.
