I've been pointed to a website, to find an exact "off the line" date, but I'm obviously challenged, because I've not been able to find any date associated with my VIN, on that site.

That's what makes me think it has to be a conspiracy between all the auto makers. Because if the engine falls out of my Expy I'll definitely be buying another car but it won't be a Ford. So all the manufacturers must be in on it because if I abandon Ford somebody else will be coming to Ford, disgusted with whatever car they just had.

Has anyone replaced the original plug with a Fumoto Valve? Once and done!

If you want a quick-change oil valve, look at https://www.nospillsystems.com/. They don't stick out of the pan so they can't get ripped off by debris. Best part is they're all brass, made in Canada and the USA. The real deal. The Army uses them. About $50.
After watching the oil drain from my Explorer, hit the plastic cross member baffle and spray all over like a lawn sprinkler, I installed these. Never looked back. Drains the oil right into a bottle.

Feb 2018 is right at the line where Raptor owners started posting that they were coming with metal oil pans...Ford quietly changed them. Maybe I’ll look under one on the lot. The bright yellow plastic drain plug is hard to miss.
You only get the 10 HP boost if you use the associated decals and liberally wall paper you vehicle with them. Also if you talk to girsl in bars about the carbon fiber oil pan on your vehicle they become overwhelmed with desire*.
*possibly to vomit a little in their mouth

I wonder if you'd have to buy different bolts/screws to attach to the engine? That would suck, a little bit.

AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake has them for $54.79. Usually Ford includes the drain plug in the assembly. If not, you can usually get a compatible drain plug at the local auto parts for around $5.

What about the retention bolts? If this were 30 years ago, I'd be inclined to think if the bolts passed through the holes of the metal pan, with heads/washers big enough to prevent leaks, ALL GOOD.
My fear is the composite pan, uses one time use torque to yield screws/bolts, which are one time use items. Basically you torque them to a predetermined spec, PLUS a quarter turn, or half turn. Most often, these are made of Aluminum, Aluminium - King's English.

When I looked the parts list, the carbon fiber pan used a main girdle above it & the metal pan did not
Metal pan also used different oil pump pick up than the carbon fiber version
Suggest you verify that before ordering replacement

Bolts should not be an issue, but the oil pickup might. I have heard some say they did and others say they did not have an issue with the oil pump pickup. Just did the oil change so I it will be a while, but for $60-$70 I will give it a try. Not so much for the leak issue, but for the fact the metal pan will shed heat better.
I bet it might not be as prone to cracking as the comp pan, if you unfortunately bottom out the pan...
I would take a dent in metal, opposed to tow truck cuz my pan cracked or shattered in such an instance.
the chances of the pan getting damaged are slim to none. If something does, you are more than likely sustaining some other type of catastrophic damage. I’d rather invest the money into the fx4 skid plates than a metal pan.
I think metal vs plastic pan isn't really an issue. The drain plug that is used in plastic pan is not built correctly...so tabs are breaking a lot...I think plastic pan will be ok, but oil pan and plug go hand in hand. If there are issues with the plastic oil plug, what is the fix other than changing out the pan to metal with metal plug. Just my 2 cents.
