Metal or plastic oil pan?

the chances of the pan getting damaged are slim to none. If something does, you are more than likely sustaining some other type of catastrophic damage. I’d rather invest the money into the fx4 skid plates than a metal pan.

I've seen lots of folks, baggin on the OEM skid plates as being flimsy.
Better to go aftermarket.
My trepidation is using aftermarket plates, might retain more heat, and lead to tranny, or transfer case failures.

They maybe flimsy but they would surely offer as good or greater protection than the metal oil pan with much less work and zero ramifications to your warranty!!

Item 3 in the top (gen1) picture is described as a 6U004 Stiffener assembly - engine block skirt in the FORD nomenclature

Mine is a Gen2, but with the girdle, composite oil pan, and the oil cooler (item 6) shown in the top picture.
