I'm guessing I have a suped up version of the original sync in my '14 limited. It's the sync with voice navigation. I hate it.
Is there any way for me to replace the whole system with a newer version?
Thanks

Sure, there are lots of options. Visit Crutchfield.com
Thanks. I was just checking them out. Any idea if any of them will work with the factory backup camera, voice control button on the wheel, and allow the radio controls in the back to be operate it?

Call Crutchfield. Seriously, others that have done swaps may know, but Crutchfield does research on the vehicles, and will know what can be retained.

The steering wheel controls is a definite with a Maestro or something similar.

Thanks. I emailed them already. I was just looking at the idatalink maestro. Interesting unit. Amazing how far car stereos/media equipment has come in the last 10 years.

Everything is digital now, and that makes interfacing one box to another fairly easy.

Got a reply from crutchfield. Not what I was hoping to hear.
While it looks like we could keep most of your features, none of the install gear we have is able to do it all. We have no mention of your factory backup camera or your voice activation button on the steering wheel, so it's possibly they could work with some wiring, but it's also possible that they won't. If you go with a stereo that supports iDatalink it seems you can keep your sync system functioning, as well as most other features. You do however lose your rear seat controls for your passengers. We have other install kits that will keep those controls for your passengers, but then you lose your SYNC system. Sadly we don't have anything that does it all. If I can help with anything else, just let me know!

What's to hate about Sync? Seems adequate to me.

The voice recognition software is bad, I can't do any customizing of it and I'd like to be able to check the weather without having to pay Sirius for it. It's just a very underwhelming system. I'd go with sync 3 if I could.

I have seen some websites with sync 2 to sync 3 upgrades, but they seem to be few and far between. I am looking to get to sync 3 so I have Apple CarPlay and some of the better screen features. Anyone have a reliable source they have used for the sync 2 to sync 3 conversion?

Where is your backup camera? Mirror?

I got rid of my awful Sync 2 with backup camera in the rearview mirror and rear audio controls for a Pioneer with Car Play. The voice activation button on the steering wheel doesn’t work anymore- I don’t think. But I don’t need it. I don’t need to say “bluetooth audio” every time I start my truck because the Pioneer just automatically connects. And the voice-to-text via Car Play actually works and is easily controlled via the touchscreen.

You couldn’t pay me to go back to Sync 2.
