Yes. It was a complete tear down. I believe they also had to replace a clutch pack or two and some synchronizers.

One thing I’m not thrilled about is they did some computer updates while there. The truck just doesn’t seem to have the power it did before. Not as much pep and snap.

Any additional issues/problems other than power issue after the repair?

No. It’s been shifting and running flawless. Just doesn’t feel as peppy. Mine was a demo/customer care car, so could it be possible it was tuned to impress potential buyers?

Doesn't really matter I guess, I’m starting to get better mileage. Was it the tune or it’s just getting broke in? Don’t know. But it’s had no more issues.

My 6R80 went nuts when my battery failed and i jumped it. Clunking and would not shift right. It fixed itself, after the new battery. The owners manual mentions this issue, part of the ALM-adaptive learn module.

Got it back yesterday and shifts back to normal..... they removed tranny, replaced C,D,F clutch drums clutch balance piston, seals etc. Also said the land for the snap ring groove was broken off. It was nice to have is back for a day as it goes back in tomorrow as the tranny is leaking looks like by the pan. :favorites68: While under the rig I also noticed the drivers side front strut leaking so we'll add it to the list. I absolutely love the vehicle but lots of little and not so little issues are becoming a pain.

With the price of these new, You would think Ford would want Toyota level quality or is beating GM good enough.

There is another thread on leaking and failing strut & shock absorbers failing. Do ask if they replace it with another brand/model or will it fail again after warranty.

Just passed 9000 miles on mine and got the hard clunk at 70 MPH yesterday. Truck was just downshifting to go up a mountain and it sounded like the transmission was coming through the floorboard. That was 2 hours into a 4.5 hour trip and I didn't notice anything else screwy the rest of the trip, so I am hopeful it was a one time thing.

For those that have had the snap ring issue, how long after the initial event did the transmission start acting up? Was it immediate, or did it take a few hundred more miles for it to become consistently bad?

Thanks in advance.

Mine wasn’t so much in the downshifting it was more shifting up into the higher gears & odd # gears. When stepping on it to pass on the highway going from 10 to 8or 7 it was fairly normal but upshifting from 7-8-9 it slammed into 9. Honestly I drove it for a while too while all this was happening as I couldn’t get in to see the transmission guy at the dealership

Thanks for the quick reply. My main concern is that this is my wife's car and I rarely drive it unless we're going on a trip like this. I'll get it out on the highway in the next couple of days and give it some good kick-downs to get through the gears and see if anything is amiss.

This was the closest post I could find to my recent issue, so rather than starting a new thread, thought I would start here.

Just completed my first major trip, about 6.5hrs of driving. All in all, this thing is great, comfortable, super peppy, great response. Only three issues I had, Sync 3.4 usability, crosswinds that made this thing feel like I was driving an RV, and the tranny. All in all the tranny was unbelievable, until.... Was doing about 82mph, 10th gear, had a semi in the right lane that needed to get over for someone merging on. Car was driving via ACC, slammed on the gas, and had this nasty hard shift that basically shook the car. It found 8th gear and accelerated fine, but it scared the wife it was so bad and frankly, I didn't like it much.

Anyone experience this? Is it normal with this 10speed? Was running in normal 2WD mode, no programming, etc. subsequent slams produce similar responses. Never had issues like this so far, had it since Nov.

Mine had same problem. Took to dealer Thursday for service and told them about tranny issue. Friday afternoon they call me and tell “it’s definitely a major issue. Something is wrong. We have to tear it down to see what it is “

so. They are going to let me know next week what they find. Its symptoms exactly like others here. It’s a 2019 with 18k miles

my concern is that whatever broke in the tranny is just going to break again. Yeah. They will fix it. And then what. ? Goes another 15k and breaks again ? Maybe when truck is out of warranty. ? Piece of crap.... no reason should have transmission issue at 18k miles and don’t trust anything now on the truck.
