Radiator Shutters

I took my 2018 expedition (77000Kms/47000miles) to the local ford dealer for regular maintenance. The mechanic noticed that the shutters in front of the radiator were "hanging" loose. Upon further inspection we could only find 4 of the blades in the small space between the grille and radiator. I believe there should be 9 blades on each side of the assembly. The rest must have fallen out.

This vehicle has never had any front and damage and there are no holes in the grille where a rock might have gone through. I have no idea how these blades "fell" off.

I have extended warranty for 6 years/160000 Kms (100000 miles).

The dealership said that Ford would not repair/replace the assembly under warranty?

Has anyone heard of this situation?

I’ve never heard of this problem - did you have any type of mechanical work done close to the shutters?

I can’t imagine that a defective grille shutter assembly would not be replaced under the warranty (minus any deductible).

Have you pursued the repair with the service manager or with Ford Customer Service?
