Hi,

I keep replacing the batteries on my key fobs more often than I ever did on my other cars. They would last less than 2-3 months on both of my key fobs.

To me it's not normal, but wonder if it's a common issue or just a regular thing on these trucks.

My year is 2010.

Thanks

Should last 4-5 years before replacing. Are they OEM key FOBs ? Even a FOB off eBay will last years.

That seems really short. Even my 2 way fobs for my alarm/remote start have lasted a good year and a half and still haven't given a warning for low battery. They have 1mi transmitters so if anything is going to suck the power it would be them.

We bought a 2014 EL July of 2019. Only one key. Bought some ebay keys and had the cut and programmed at a local shop. We had battery issues one time - don't remember the battery brand. That would have been in August or September of 2019.

New batteries, right? We all know NEW batteries are supposed to be good when you pull them out of the package. I took the new keys back to the key shop and they checked and told me the batteries were bad. Not a programming or key issue.

I put new batteries purchased at a different store (don't remember that brand either) and the keys have worked every since. Year and half now.

Sometimes, even new batteries aren't great.

What brand of battery are you using? May not be the FOB.
The first brand were really cheap. Sylvania I think.
But tried other brands after. a bit better, but still changing them every months. Running energizer right now, will try duracell.

But never had this kind of issues even with cheap batteries.

Are you sure that something is not pressing one of the key fob buttons when you have the keys in your pocket? I have a 2008 and the batteries last 2+ years, but I regularly have the alarm go off as something in my pocket presses on the panic button, I now hang my keys with a key clip from the belt straps on the outside of my trousers and no panic alarm mishaps. Maybe something similar is happening to yours, if one of the buttons is accidentally being pushed in, it will flatten the battery very quickly

That was my guess too. Don't keep keys in my pocket, have had no battery issues.
