The original version was only available for the 4.5” basic folks and only had a quad core with 2gb Ram and 32gb ROM.
A 6 core with 4gb Ram and 64gb ROM is coming. It will be available for both the 4.5” and 8” screen systems.
Currently a preorder.

I’ll probably get one in the spring.

I have the universal 7” Joying unit in my truck. It has an Octacore with 2gb and 34gb. Granted it does not control my HVAC and I have the apps at a minimum on it but it is quick and responsive and does just fine running music streaming and navigation simultaneously. Video plays nicely but have not used video much. Switches to the rear view camera seamlessly and quickly.

Bottom footnotes say final product will look slightly different from actual picture.
Probably just an initial mockup.

I have been watching these Android Head Units from Phoenix for a few months now. I am really interested in getting something like this, but I can't go with these guys.

Pretty much these guys are just resellers of the stuff from China. They do not develop the system themselves so if you do find/have a problem, their answer seems to be "yeah, we know about that, its sucks, we will let China know". Others have also been saying that the support number there just will not call you back.

So only I would only get one of these if I'm willing to accept it "as is" even if it doesn't work. I'm not there at this price point.

Plus I would like to get a Owners manual to browse before I but it. I've looked over the site and I don't see one to get. not even picture of the connectors. So other than what I have seen on youtube videos, I'm uncertain of the operations and features of these units.

That is the rub you run into with any of these Android units. I do wish one of the big names would run with the technology. These things are pretty capable.
I have not purchased anything from Phoenix but I can say they are very responsive to e-mails. I have been conversing with them since even before an Expedition model was available.
You likely won't get a users manual even when you buy one. On my Joying unit there is a manual app but it is not very helpful.

Here is what you can expect for your connections. Granted this is from the earlier generation but your connections will likely be identical the only differences are the processor and memory being upgraded. No reason to change the connection options.

I have one in my 2006 Lexus GS300. I've had it installed for over a year and it works great. It integrated my climate control and everything, while before it was a manual button control for climate control. I would expect the same quality for the Expedition. The only oddities are some of the verbage that they use because it doesn't translate well from Chinese, for example "please careful surroundings" with the backup camera.

While the unit is pretty much plug and play with all the connections being labeled the actual install is pretty simple.

The setup is fairly time consuming. There are lots of settings to tweak.
I highly suggest spending $20 and buying a 12v adapter so you can plug it in on your work bench.

12V Power Supply 8A Transformer, AC100-240V Input 12VDC 8A Output Switching Adapter 100W LED Power Adapter for LED Strip Light,US Plug, UL Listed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075R3RW6J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AvKfEb41VWVRC

Run your Audio/Video RCAs to a TV and set everything up outside the car. Sitting slumped over the shifter and console is not the most comfortable.
Setup WiFi, Bluetooth, navigation settings, etc. sitting at your work bench.
Open up the setting panel and start at the top and go through every setting and every folder. You’ll need to tweek a few settings inside the car like the equalizer, backup camera settings, steering wheel controls but 95% can be setup at your work bench. Your back will thank me.

I use the Agama Car Launcher as my home screen. That is what you see on the screen in the picture of my Silverado. The 6 main apps are customizable as are the vehicle logos and background colors.
You still have access to all the apps that just lays them out nicely for ease of use when driving.

I am solidly impressed with my Joying unit that cost $200.
My buddy has had the Tesla style in his GX460 for awhile now and it has been quite solid.

Be interesting to see the price difference from Phoenix and straight from AliExpress. Aliexpress does not have the new model listed yet but has cut the price of the first version so I kind of guessed a new one was coming. I do prefer the new 12” screen with knobs for the rear control. I wish they would just do one with the smaller screen and still have manual HVAC controls.

like for the old Expeditions

......

Yeah, I have the Tesla style from AliExpress in my GS300. It's been pretty good. Lots of tweaks in the settings to get it right, but it's good to go.

Interesting. I am really thinking that the option for the "360 DEGREE PANORAMIC ADVANCED AROUND VIEW MONITORING SYSTEM CAR CAMERA RECORDER DVR" would be a nice add on.

This will be very tempting since I currently have the little screen. I like that this replacement will maintain the factory rear camera.

Any problems with install? I've got no sound output from the one I am installing now
Which one did you get?

I have this one, https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/pr...navi-radio-for-ford-expedition-2015-2016-2017 , and the detailed review and install tips left by “Don O.” are dead on. No issues at all. The unit itself can be quirky, but I mainly wanted it for carplay and running a movie/show for my kids on road trips, so it serves its purpose very well.

That is the same one I have, I believe they sent me the wrong wiring harness, after talking with someone else on Facebook with one, he said you need the CD player in car, and some male plugs plugged into it from radio. My wiring harness with radio only has female plugs. Unfortunately the company won't call me back, and I can't get the tech, (they only have 1 tech) on the phone so I am returning it

They were very responsive to my questions submitted via email, but I totally understand. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.
