I'm always curious but why did you go with the MAX then the normal sized expedition? Space in the back?
Long story short, yes, the space in back. With the 3rd row up in normal size, there isn’t anywhere close to the room I would need.

Totally agree. Wife and I had a van before getting an SUV. We had a Tahoe years ago when we only had 2 little kids. That was fine, but now with 4, the space in the back with the MAX and Suburban is the only way to go. You can't fit much back in the Tahoes/Expeditions without putting the 3rd row down.

Besides just daily use, which I have a laundry list of reasons I need space…. Just drove 4hours to the beach with my wife, my 2yr old twin girls, and 2 Boykin spaniels, and I feel like we brought everything we own and there is still room. Couldn’t make these trips without the max…..and adding another girl to the family in September. Pray for me, I’m outnumbered!

I drove a Taurus x for 8 years with three kids. The max feels like the grand canyon compared to the X. And we love every cubic inch. We looked at the standard explorer and really the cargo area wasn't much more then we had in the X. It is so nice not to have to pack groceries around the kids feet. We live 90 miles from a box store, so when we go it's a haul. Plenty of room. Our oldest has Asperger's and needs his space so he doesnt have sensory overload. Plenty of room for everyone. And with the HD tow, it will pull like our f150. Max all the way!

I picked up a limited Stealth Max (4x-tow) about the same time. No auto park and no engine cover. The others on the lot didn’t have engine covers either.

I expected this given the supply shortages so I walked into the parts dept and ordered/paid for the engine cover.

They have them in stock now so It came in right away. Easy install you’ll need to order the two nuts as well.

Really quiets down the engine.

Dealer is working to get me a refund as I complained I paid for it in the car msrp :) already.

FYI.

Tinted front windows and windshield, now just waiting on my Bilstein 5100s to come in. Prob go 285 50 or 55r22 nitto ridge grappler on the stock 22s whenever the Bilstein come In. I’ll post some interior photos later.
Keep a close eye on ALL the exterior sheet metal as the aluminum panels are know for “white” rust under the paint. My 2015 Expedition white rust came back again in yet another place and Ford refused to fix it. I had planned to purchase a new 2022 model but they didn’t care and wouldn’t fix it for the third time. Ten months ago I special ordered a new Chevy Tahoe Premier Diesel and received it two weeks ago! What a great vehicle. 30 mpg Highway and an excellent ride with the new rear independent suspension. I was happy with my Expedition… but couldn’t purchase another one knowing that EVERY panel now on the 2022 is aluminum… rather than just the hood and hatch on my 2015. My Expedition had only 67,000 miles and was garaged nearly every day. I would like to say that Ford fixed the white aluminum rust by now…. But that’s what they told me in 2015 too, after at least 10 years of rust in prior years of Expeditions. Good luck!

From ConsumerReports.org:

"We expect the 2022 Expedition will have about average reliability when compared to the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2019 and 2020 models. Select the used car model year to see reported issues with those similar past models."

"We expect the 2022 Tahoe will be much less reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2021 models. Select the used car model year to see reported issues with those similar past models."

Good luck indeed.
