Just bought a 2022 expedition, but didn’t get the code. Without paying a dealer a kidney, how can I find the code? TIA

On the Generation 3 Expy's 2007-2014, the default code is typed on white label on the hidden side of the SJB (Smart Junction Box) . To read it, small font, I had to loosen the module from its location in the passenger footwell (A Pillar) and put a mirror behind it to read the 5 digit code. The module has a bundle of cables that restrict movement. The label was jammed with part numbers and codes, so if you can get a camera angle on it, might help speed up things. I later discovered that the dealer had put the customer code (not the default code) inside the drivers door near the hinge.

For my 2020, I found a procedure for obtaining the code using the key fobs and the slot in the cup holder. You can find it in the online Owner's Manual at Ford Owner Support. Maybe in the printed Owner's Manual as well. You need two functioning fobs for this to work.

Yes, this. Just went through the procedure and at the end the dash displayed the factory code

The code is also attached to the back of the computer. You would have to pull the right side kick panel far enough to see it, IIRC just loosen the weatherstrip and maybe a clip.

My 2019 has a place in sync3 to change the code, after getting the original.
You can use FORScan to get the original code.

What does one do if u bought used and the original owner changed the factory code? Does the 2 key fob procedure show the CURRENT code on the display? Or just what the factory code was?

Correct, you can only add a new code.

Odd thing for me - I only had one key when I purchased so I looked at the code on my security module. After I programmed my second key I went and did the procedure to see the code using the 2 key method and that code was different. Both "factory" codes worked. Not sure how that's possible.
