Looking at upgrading from a 2020 max to a new 2024 max. Are the 24’s having the same transmission issues as these 18-22 models? I’m starting to have a bad shift to 3rd ever so often. Would rather get rid of it than throw 9k on a new tranny when the value of this one is rapidly falling beyond belief.

Unless of coarse Ford had a surplus of the old CDF's and decided to throw them in some 24's to save $$$

Sold our 19 Max after repeated trans failure and bought a previous generation Sequoia. I lost my ass on 2 different Expeditions, I’m not chancing it with a 3rd…. I actually have such a sour taste from Ford in my mouth at this point that we upgraded our daughter from an 07 Lincoln MKX to an 07 4-Runner yesterday:)

Ps: I sold mine for $35k back in December. It was booking at about $33k via Carvana at the time (we owed $48k so it hurt bad to sell it). Just got my monthly Carvana email yesterday and the value has dropped to $26k now!! Glad we ditched it when we did…the values are tanking FAST on these, I wonder if it’s due to the poor reliability?

Dealer is saying they will give me 29k and I owe 18k and some change. Think I’m just going to jump ship and go with a new body sequioa. I got this one used from my aunt back in ‘22 for trade in value at the time. Which means it’s taken a 20k hit in these last two years. I came from a sequoia, wife is ready for a new one even if we have to give up the max back end.

Or just find a nice 2nd gen Sequoia (again) with the proven 5.7…

heard multiple places there's some bad juju with many of the new Toyota engines. no longer are they rock solid like the old 4.0 V6 or 5.7 V8 or whatever.

My understanding is 23 and up all have the revised CDF drum. Some late 22s may have it as well. Our 23 has 50k miles on it and trans shifts perfect. It took them awhile but I think Ford finally got the 10 speed figured out.

Make sure you look at how the 2nd and 3rd row seats fold in a Sequoia. They are awful and have no cargo space.

Look at the 3rd row legroom. not good.
