Yep! That's what I thought too. Hate to have to spend $80 more for book & case after $80K for the Expy, but I guess it's just a minuscule amount (in the big scheme of things) for the peace of mind that having the book gives us, Lance
I took your advice and ordered one from Quixby, should be here by Wed. My 21 KR came with one as well.
Thanks again for your guidance.

That's great. I hope it works out good for you as it did for me. It seems that this eBay seller is a nice and honest guy. Best of luck and health to you and yours, Lance

I downloaded the PDF from Ford's site and uploaded it to my Google drive. As long as I have Internet access, I can look at the manual. Heck, I might even download it to my phone though reading it there would be a PITA.

On the road internet access can be sketchy, usually when you need it and you probably have to stop. Wife was thinking about using her phone but like you, thought it would be a real pia. With a hard copy she can look at it, talk on her phone and I can keep on going.

Sort of an answer to your questions in Part 1 and 2. We purchased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4xe as soon as they we available. Big Mistake, and that was my 5th Grand Cherokee. After 5 recalls and serious downtime, we traded for a 2024 Expedition Limited with the Stealth package. So far we've had it 6 months and love the vehicle. We did have an Eddie Bauer Expedition back in 2008 and had a great experience with that vehicle also In the second part of your question, I felt the same way about the owners manual not being included in a paperback version. I've always gone through the manual with a new vehicle and couldn't do it with the new Expedition. The manual is 649 pages long. So what I did was down load the manual and saved it to my Google Drive. I can pull that file up on my Iphone or laptop and go through the book. It's a little more of a pain , but that way I do not have to site and scroll through the 15.5" screen on the dash. Don't know of that helps or not. Just a suggestion

I can offer my experience of having worked for a couple of OEM auto manufacturers in my life and this is an explanation I can offer for situations I see in this thread.

1) OEMs are looking to minimize print unless necessary ("greener", cheaper, etc). If they can get an OM loaded on the CID (central information display or radio if you will), they will do this as it costs nothing, it can be updated with OTA updates if required for edits & additions. This does not take into account that as some have said a dead battery or failed unit will render this useless. Call a tow service and have the dealer perform service. OEMs are no longer in the business to make these cars easily serviced by the end-user.

2) Shortages of material: OM's and other print material unless legally required are not enough reason to keep the plant from releasing a car, especially if the OM is also on the CID. Sometimes the print company (some companies will actually do several OEMs) has supply issues and they miss deadlines. A $5 book (plant cost) will not hold up an $80000 car. If you can prove that the car is supposed to have the OM according to the build sheet, you *should* be able to get the dealer to warranty a replacement.

3) "Running Changes": This is where during the MY's production cycle a decision (usually a cost cutting) is made to change up a process or eliminate a feature. A cost study was made on the feasibility of a certain topic and voila, a change is quietly made (i.e. - courtesy puddle light may be on a MY24 produced one week; lamp, cutout, and wiring are gone the next production week. In this case a decision could be called on if the book is needed or not, determine what current and incoming stock there is to do a run-out (leave no inventory behind), and make a production week call-out for the line to cease install.

If I were here, you would know it !
I surely don't understand those Ford salesmen trying to gouge you for $150 when they could just eat that money, to make a sale. Don't know their thinking??
Well, they were apparently thinking "let's all have dinner on this fool's dime" or something.....

Of course it cost them a sale, and little did they know that their attempted gouging earned them an immediate compliant straight up to FoMoCo HQ, as well as the BBB, Consumer Affairs Dept, and the State's AG office....which may or may not have made any difference in the long run, but FoMoCo sent me a visa gift card for $250 and an apology :D

I made that suggestion, too.

I think the downloaded PDF has more information than the manual built into the 15.5" LCD.

I disagree. It is not about green or anything else imho. It is about pure profit. Hell, I'm old enough to remember that the big question at Ford was how many people were killed and how much are we liable for having to do deaths attributable to the fuel tank in the Pinto involved in rear end accidents before they made modifications.
Anyway the issue has been resolved. I purchased one on ebay and should have it tomorrow or the next day.

BigOleFordFan: That's great that you received a $250 gift card from Ford. I have never heard of that being done. But, it sounds like someone at Ford tried to keep you as a Ford customer. That's a good sign.

Fastcar: Yes, I too agree that "Greener" is the cop-out excuse Ford uses for "Cheaper" for them. It's all about money, the bean counter bottom line and stockholder dividends NOT, about customers needs, wants nor CS, for sure.

@Fastcar / @LanceExp2025 - do not disagree with you at all with the "green" part. It is something they all like to say and tout to make everyone feel better while supporting the bottom line.

But the reasons I listed are usually the whys.

Thanks HILLY:

I sure enjoyed reading your earlier post which was not only informative but pretty enlightening for me too! I actually didn't know that the assembly line could react that quickly and make almost instantaneous (within a day or so) changes/deletions, locally, to solve material shortages without high-up corporate approvals.

But, thinking back, when shopping for our 2024 Expedition MAX Limited (we looked at nine (9) different cars & drove 5 of them in 2 days), I did see some very slight and subtle differences from one Expedition MAX Limited to another with the same Equipment Group 302A, but it never entered my mind about shortages possibly causing these differences. I was thinking some were because of differences of colors int/ext or other/different Optional Equipment. When we went looking, I first viewed these Expy's on the dealer web sites, printed out every Window Sticker (of the ones we were interested in) and then went to see them in person. That way, we could compare apples to apples on these cars. Some had stuff we didn't want/need and some were missing stuff that was important for us to have on the 2024 Expy. Like the 2024 Expy MAX that we bought, had the 2 video screens on the back of the driver & passenger headrests (which we surely DIDN'T need) but it turned out we were so happy we had these video screen headrests because now both the headrests adjust/tilt forward & back, unlike the non-video ones that are fixed & permanently tilt too far forward, for us.

Last: My daughter had purchased a standard-length Expedition Limited in July 2024 with the same 302A Equipment Group but, her Window Sticker showed $2705 for this 302A and ours, bought March 2025 showed $3100 for this same 302A. That's a $395 jump in 8 months. Her 'Jewel Red Metallic' was $495 extra and our 'Stone Blue Metallic' was $495 extra. I am fairly certain that these colors don't cost Ford $500 more to paint, though. Just another plunk in their cash drawer! I also thought that with exactly the same base equipment that my daughters standard Expedition Limited had @ $68,410 base price and our Expedition MAX Limited @ $71,515 base price (a $3105 increase) was high for 12" more interior length in our MAX. That's $260/inch! but we wanted the extra cargo area so, paid the price. Another plunk in their cash drawer! But that's enough of my sniveling because both my wife and I just love and are totally pleased this Expy !!! Lance

Here's the deal. Really like it, wife loves it, and that's a good thing. Only issue is the lack of an owners manual. This has a 15" screen that has a "owners manual" in it. So to learn how to control anything you have to be stopped to access said manual. This is a giant pia! Was driving through Daytona with a ton of bikes around and that rich exhaust was getting into the cabin. Tried to actuate the "recirculating air" and had to find a parking place or somewhere to pull over and stop to access the manual get to that option. No easy task in the middle of Bike Week! This scenario continued as we attempted to learn about this new toy.
I usually read a owners manual cover to cover so I at least have a clue. The passenger can yank out the printed manual at anytime when my memory fails and is able find the needed info. Not with this! This sucks!!
Anybody have an idea where I can find an owners manual that pertains to a 2024 Limited Stealth with a 15.5" inch screen? My dealer who is real good didn't have answer. I don't really want to spend hours sitting in it reading in the driveway. All I want is a hard copy that will fit in the console.
The bigger engine makes a big difference! Size really does matter! lol
With my 24 Max 4x Limited I ordered a manual from Helms for $50 and it came in 2-3 days. It's 644 pages and yet had no info on the rear entertainment system which i desperately needed. Oh well. Ford could not even provide me with info. This is my biggest pet peeve with my pricey ride. I love the truck and ordered it with the 8 seats etc.

Hi JKH13:

I know of Helm and I was thinking that Helm was the ones that printed the Ford Owner's Manual, but DON'T know that for sure? The "Rear Entertainment System" you are referring to, are those the video/audio screens in the back of the driver and passenger Head Rests? If so, I have those in our new 2024 Expedition MAX and, even though I have NOT tried to use them yet, the salesman gave me a box with the head-phones for them and said there was an instruction booklet in with the headphones. If you don't have that booklet, I may be able to open up that box and make a copy of it for you. (if it's there?)

When looking for a 2024 Expedition "Printed Owners Manual" for my daughters car mid last year, I went first to Helm but they were out of stock/out of print, at that time. I went to eBay and bought a re-print of the Ford Owner's Manual.

When we bought our new 2024 Expedition MAX, 1-1/2 weeks ago, I again went to Helm but still 'no stock' so, back to eBay for another re-print. I used this re-print Owner's Manual for pairing our 2024 Expedition sun visor garage door buttons and tried it 5 times and it never worked for any of the 3 buttons. My daughter suggested going onto YouTube and search for help with this. I did that and found the "FORD" channel. I followed that fellows method (the second one, using the closer learn buttons) and it worked perfectly for all 3 buttons (2 garage doors & 1 gate). I went back to the Owner's Manual book to see if I misread it or was just stupid. I realized it was just worded incorrectly, in the book, for it to work properly. The majority of information and direction was correct but NOT everything needed to make it work.

I am not surprised that this book from Helm didn't have what you needed because it seems like Ford has discontinued the book printing thus, it most likely is not UPDATED with the latest info on every component? Don't know? Be well, Lance
