Doesn't look like it is going to happen just yet.
- Timeline: The regulation is required by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (2021) to be implemented for new vehicles starting in 2027, according to.
- Current Status: As of early 2026, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not finalized the rules and notes that the technology is not yet fully developed or proven for mass production, with studies finding it cannot yet consistently detect impairment at legal limits.
- Privacy Concerns: Critics cite concerns about "Big Brother" in-cabin surveillance, data storage, and the potential for abuse by insurers or law enforcement.
- Implementation Status: While intended for 2027, technical challenges with accuracy suggest potential delays, despite reporting 2027 model year vehicles are set for introduction.
- Legislative Action: Some lawmakers are trying to repeal the mandate through efforts like the "No Kill Switches in My Car Act" (H.R. 1137)

Just ordered my 2027 Expedition Max Platinum Ultimate. Got it in Star White with Salt Crystal gray interior. Excited!
Was told it will likely by a July build.

Placed my Order May 7. Just got an email from Ford that said it was built yesterday. Expected at dealer by 7/12-7/16. You are probably close!

I ordered my 2027 on April 14th. It was delivered to the dealership today. I will pick it up tomorrow. It's an ultimate with dark matter gray and salt crystal gray interior. I'm getting the employee pricing discount which is $7250 below MSRP. I originally had the xplan but the employee price discount is $3295 below xplan! I had a $2000 cash offer but it's not eligible with tha aplan which is the employee price discount. However this deal is still $1295 better than the xplan plus $2000 cash. Can't wait to drive it home tomorrow.

Ya, I thought I'd miss the wireless charger going to a 2026 Tremor, but...I don't care at all. They're never fast-enough to really matter unless you're on a long drive, and at that point plugging in a cable isn't difficult.
The Driver's Package also includes the B&O 22 Speaker package, it looks-like...and I'd be really curious what kind of sound difference that offers. "Illuminated Rear Spoiler"...not sure what that even means. Power-adjustable pedals is new, though...the 2026 Tremor doesn't have them.

Haven't heard the 10 speaker b&o, but the 22 spkr one is incredible, and would sound good in cars 2x the price.
