Hi all. Prospective buyer of an Expedition Max and hoping to get an OASIS report to confirm warranty status on vehicle that was originally sold with 1k miles as a Ford Blue Advantage Gold certified used vehicle 1 month after it was originally sold. Fast foward 2 more owners and being resold at a Toyota dealership.. I want to check confirm if this certification provides additional extended warranty on top of the factory warranty. I've called 3 dealers and Ford customer care and they have all shared a different story, then referred me to finance (voicemail).

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a vehicle and just want to confirm if this 2023 Expedition Max with 33k miles (in service start June 2023) has an extended warranty.

What I know:
On carfax, 7/3/23: 1k miles offered for sale as a Ford Blue Advantage Gold certified used vehicle.

All 3 service departments confirm it has a 100k powertrain warranty until June 2030 or 100k and also has Premium Care for until June 2027 or 48k miles. It is labeled as tied to the "Certified customer"

Are these warranties tied to the VIN? Does the original owner have to transfer or is it assumed? What is the "certified customer"

I'd really love a warranty report on this in OASIS. Is there an online tool or can someone help with this?

Thanks anyone for your help.

Any original Ford new car and a Ford extended plan are tied to the vehicle via the vin, and any Ford dealer should be able to pull up the info for any Ford warranty still in effect.....including any extended Ford warranty.
Possibility exists that any extended warranty still left on the vehicle was pro-rated and money returned to the owner when traded. In that case, no extended warranty would show up.

Ford does not sell extended warranties. They sell extended service plans (ESP), backed by an insurance company. There are various levels of plans and certain riders available (rental car, LED lighting, key fobs, etc.).

The ESP is assigned to the VIN with the purchasers name (usually the owner of the vehicle). The plan can be cancelled and a refund obtained if the plan is not used. In some cases, the refund is prorated from the original cost. Any Ford or Lincoln dealer can look up the plan existence using the VIN.

The ESP can be transferred to a new vehicle owner by following the instructions in the ESP - usually requiring a written notice to the ESP and payment of a service fee. (GM’s fee is $50). I had a Ford Premium Care ESP on my Expedition, but did not transfer it when I disposed of the vehicle.

You could check with a Ford dealer regarding the existence of an ESP, but the plan owner could be in the process of asking for a refund. The only way to ensure you receive the plan is to have the plan owner transfer to plan to you (if you purchase the vehicle).

Since the vehicle changed hands from an owner to a dealer, I would doubt the ESP was transferred to the dealer. You MAY not be able to transfer the ESP from the original purchaser, if the vehicle has been sold / traded to a dealer.

Occasionally, vehicle manufacturers will issue an extended warranty on a specific vehicle component for a certain a period of time and/or months. GM does this and calls the extension a “satisfaction campaign”. The component’s extended warranty is VIN specific, regardless of owner. It does not apply to the entire vehicle.

Got mine gold certified with the extended warranty. Glad I did because it's paid for TWO transmission rebuilds so far (75K miles on my Expedition). Expires in August, so I have that long to find a new vehicle.

Thanks all. I ended up getting a Premium Care 8year/100k extended (with lighting) as the price was very attractive as a wrapper to gold certification. In addition, it was a 2023 where the in service date started in 2026 since it was a "demo". So it was "new" from the warranty stand point (but with 20k miles), + gold certification and extended warranty (48k/100k) + Premium care (100k/100k).

As far as OASIS reports, for others coming across this thread.... you just have to have a dealer print it out. I had some service departments send it over by email. I don't think they were happy about it, but they did help me while I was looking for used cars.
