Bringing this thread back up real fast, instead of creating a new topic. Good on the plugs, but recently read some articles talking about long term reliability and things that should be done on these 3.5's. One item that seems to creep up a lot is ignition coil longevity and issues. Is it...
Don't turn these rigs into Pintos! The rear ends on these collapse pretty quickly in a strong rear end accident. That spare helps with a little absorption back there.
exactly what I was going to say, it will likely require the cowl above the grill coming off, the bumper cover, and the grill. I've done it but as Gixxer said, it's a fair amount of work.
My first inclination would be to trace the hoses from the pump and see where they go through the firewall, that would tell you if you even have a chance of getting to it.
oh my, that sounds fun! you have a 21, still under warranty? granted it may take 2 weeks at the dealer but my concern would be any electronics or modules potentially getting wet and having issues later. Either there's a union down there that's leaking or worse, maybe it was crimped or...
I mean technically mine has the small air cooler right in front of the tranny as well, I was more thinking about the filling procedure, maybe location of the filling hole and exhaust vs. our design.
@SyndicateZ I know many of them do, the problem is that if "factory certified" and trained techs can't possibly do this service right, in a reasonable time, there's no way I could remotely trust the 3rd party quick lube shops. previous trannies I could easily do myself, this one seems absurd...
So is it the consensus that we really should be doing sooner than the factory mileage, but it's either a huge pain in the rear or you risk techs not doing it right? Super frustrating also, as I can almost guarantee the dealer will require to leave your car for at least a day, rather than...
So I'm gonna bring this back up after reviewing and searching the forum for any collective thoughts on something like a four-wheel service with tranny flush.
I'm not a heavy driver, meaning I don't tow two boats and a jeep behind this thing all the time, I do drive a lot of mountain passes up...
I have numerous posts about this on here. The feedback mechanism in the switch is a terrible design, its essentially just a rubber nub that tries to return to its resting position. I actually found that if I tap hard enough on the trim surrounding the button sometimes it works fine...
The CAI if a good one will come with instructions. I also liked that the Corsa tube was metal, where as my previous one was plastic. It comes with instructions on how to pop off the sensor harness, insert the tube with the open angle facing the turbo (shortest end of the tube towards turbo)...
I recently just switched between CAI's, having now moved to the awesome Corsa one. My issue with the previous one was actually that it was the open baffle style. I didn't like how dirty the filter go and even though it had a gasket at hte top, much like the picture you posted, I was still...
I mean OP says they've done it before, I too haven't seen it but maybe it is possible with forscan. pretty cool, someone needs to try and pull firmware off and see if we can help each other that way.
You shouldn't need to but it can't hurt. The biggest issue is dirt. I keep mine clean, pressure wash every 1-2 weeks especially in the winter. Lubricate good 2-3 times a year. No issues. Funny, everything is working fine but the powder coated exterior of the motors is now peeling off and...
