03 expedition won't crank won't start
Mine did this and it turned out the starter had burned through the power lead at the solenoid mounted on the starter. It only takes 10 minutes to disconnect and inspect.- 64C10

Part between steering gear and steering rod that would cause play in steering?
Did you look for the rag joint? It should be a round rubber joint located along the shaft it's there to act like an extreme impact absorber. Not 100% sure they still used them but look for it .- 64C10
