From what I was told, after all this time, was a rod in the transfer case was broken. Don't know if the rod attaches somehow to the front driveshaft, but they replaced this rod in the transfer case and my truck works just fine (so I've been told) I haven't picked it up yet.
Thanks for the...
OK. This is what I found out about mine. I haven't picked it up yet from the shop so I cant swear on this!
Anyway. I was told that there is a rod in the transfer case. I'm not sure if it attaches to the front drive shaft, but he said that the rod had broken and that is why I couldn't run...
I wish I could give you some great advise, but at this time.. I'm still trying to figure out mine too. If I have the front drive shaft in, mine clunks, bangs, grinds and barely turns in either direction. I had it to the transmission shop, they fixed/replaced the transfer case seals & gaskets...
Ok, so maybe I can get some input for my next questions. Front Diff is "going bad".
1) junk yard or rebuilt?
2) any clue as to how much each/either costs so I can determine if I'm getting screwed?
Sure would appreciate it.
Thanks!
But it looks a bit more technical than I am. I can take that puppy apart. Could probably even get it all back together with no problems... but resolderededededing it is more than I know what to do. I'll have to do some more info gathering to see if this is something I can figure out...

Had a mechanic tell me he would diagnose it for me... at a $100. For now its not that important, but any insight would...

Wow....No
I'll have to get a pic. I've had her so long that the thought never even crossed my mind to take pictures of her.
LOL. She doesn't look as sweet at yours. But she is mine and she has been a great truck!
Just under 150
I'm just under 150K and am just now starting to have major repairs. And not a 100% I can call them major. Just have a tight budget. My girls a 99 and I still love her after 12 years
I have had to remove the front drive shaft because we (mechanic) thinks that the front dif is gone bad. At this point, I can't afford to have this replaced/repaired. What do I need to know or do while the drive shaft is out? Do I need to move my "4wd" knob to any particular setting? Right...
