Urgent Help with expy 98
as already stated by another member on this thread, the 1st gen expeditions had dash problems with weak sodder joints, mine did its a 99 xlt. but if its killing your truck, i dont think your dash is the problem. you asked how to check your fuel pump? you can have the pressure tested at the fuel...- diesel3

COP or Coil pack
1997 through 1999 4.6L has 2 coil packs, one in front of each valve cover with 4 plug wires per coil pack, 1 for each bank of the motor i have the 99 expedition XLT plugs are much easier to replace than the cop system in my opinion, my dad has a 04 expedition with the 2 piece plugs and nobody...- diesel3

1999 expedition battery light on the dash is on?
problem solved!!! it was a wire, he never snaped in the single wire plug to the right of the positive feed cable. i just snaped it in and the light went out. ive put some 20 miles on it and no batt light. thanks guys for your quick responses to my problem. i hope i can contribute some knowledge...- diesel3

1999 expedition battery light on the dash is on?
my mechanic, and the ford dealer say that ita a diode gone bad in the alt and that my alt is charging fine. its putting out 14.4 volts running. i may go ahead and replace it any way for peace of mind. my volts guage is running in the normal place, just above the half way mark. its just anoying...- diesel3

1999 expedition battery light on the dash is on?
i have a 1999 expedition XLT 4.6L, just had the whole top of the motor redone. new timing chain tentioners and guides, new valve job, all new gaskets, new water pump, radiator. so i get it back from the shop and it runs great, i put about 70 miles on it and then my battery light comes on? but my...- diesel3

new 1st gen expedition owner
my 4.6L has plenty of pep and seems to get better gas milage than my buddys 01 nav with the 5.4L. i will say my buddys nav does run like a scalded dog, but feels about the same to me in low end tq. i have been a fan of the 4.6,s for years having owned and wrecked more than my share of 94 /98...- diesel3

oh yeah, my expedition is done! all new head gaskets, intake gaskets, valve job, water pump , thermostat, radiator, timing chain guides and tentioners and new egr tube. 1400 bucks but big boy is alive and well thanks to camargo auto service. i missed my truck!! pics coming as soon as the weather...- diesel3

well the shop called today, they are waiting on the heads to come back from the machine shop. they recomended a new water pump. i told them to go for it and to replace the thermostat as well. my new money pitt lol- diesel3

what price did you pay for your expy?
1999 expedition XLT with the 4.6L 152k on the clock. purchased from the original owner this truck is near mint dark/med blue 4x4 with 17in rims 2800 cash. this truck is family- diesel3
