Got the car back today. It steers better - no more crunch. It does shift better too, not perfect but much better. Hopefully it lasts. Notes from service:
- steering column upper shaft replacement
- accelerated main control break in on all clutch packs, reset KAM, adaptive learning drive cycle
I've done that with ForScan and the dealer did that too, but it didn't fix all, for me. They are doing an "accelerated break-in on the valve body" now, but not surely entirely what that means. Regarding the steering crunch, they stated that compared mine to three other expeditions they had in...
Got the car back. Diff rebuild was a mistake - they didn't do it... Replaced two tires and it does feel a little smoother at speed. Trans does shift a bit better, but it's still far from what I would call good. It still has a drag in the steering. Thinking about bringing it back.
Dealer called with updates, here they are so far:
- replacing two tires under warranty (for vibration at speed)
- updating software on trans
- front differential overhaul (for vibration at speed)
- still looking into steering rack and column
I'm probably past that option, I've had it for 18 months now. We'll see, but I'm making peace with it and if it's still not shifting and turning well by the end of year I'll probably just get rid of it at whatever loss and will consider this a lesson in never buying a Ford.
Agreed, it's the price that makes this such a slap in the face.
I really think it's a sign of "optimization". The manufacturers release poorly made product understanding that the majority of the consumers won't notice anything wrong, and the few that do get the burden to go through the...
I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah that's about my experience with the downshift. I watched this excellent trans rebuild video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zAUFd6kqyQ last night.. I mean if it comes to that I could follow along and do the work myself, but on a new car under warranty...
I popped a few plastic interior bits into place on a few of them. To be fair, I also popped a few into place on new Toyotas..
It's just a sad state of affairs nowadays in the new vehicle department.
Yeah I looked at the GM counterparts but found the Ford interior better designed and seats more comfortable. And the V8s are failing too. The Stellantis is too expensive and the company sucks. Unfortunately the Japanese large SUVs didn't have a large enough 3rd row (or at least I though so at...
I mention the windows as a general example of bad icing on a shoddy cake. It's not a huge problem and obviously nowhere near a trans that slams into gears. If the car was well built and well driving I wouldn't mention it. But as the car feel like a clunky junker to drive and ride in, to me...
Regarding the auto windows, in general I'd agree, but I think it's such an extreme ommision in a 70k "luxury" car. It's like buying a benz in 2010 and not getting AC.
Dropped it off at the dealer today with issues documented. Tesla has been perfect in comparison, only "issue" is a tiny occlusion in the windshield out of the way I didn't bother with, and it was aligned on the 2nd day. 2021 Model Y Peformance.
I've had a lot of cars over the years, many beaters, currently own 3 other nice cars of which 2 are rebuilt (frame up bearings, bushings, seals) by myself, and one is a Tesla. My fourth vehicle is my 2024 Expedition XLT.
I have needed a big car for a while, I had a van I regret selling. I was...
