Ok, final update...
My vacuum holds very well. Occasionally I'll leave my hvac set on something other than "off" for the 12+ hours that I'm at work. I'll notice and turn it to off before cranking the engine. I'll actually hear the vacuum release pressure (all before the key is in the...
Ok.. So an update....
Could not find any vacuum leaks. On a hunch that air is trapped, I parked on my semi-steep driveway. I jacked up the driver front wheel and let it run for an hour and a half with reservoir cap off and heat on high to get very hot air from the vents. I lowered the truck...
The fact that it happens under load has me wondering if electrolysis has anything to do with it. I could not find any info to support this idea, but my mind is wandering....
Thanks for the reply. I can leave my temp settings untouched. When I stop at a light it will blow HOT. When I take off it loses it's heat. My blend door actuator was also replaced last year when I originally chased this issue. The door was verified to be in working order when I replaced the...
Long story short... My heat only works when the vehicle is stopped. It's very toasty. When cruising I only have "warm" air.
It's a '99 XLT 4.6 Windsor
I just did a coolant flush this weekend, distilled water ONLY.
New thermostat and reservioir cap.
Coolant level correct, air has been bled...
FWIW I have a brand new DPFE sensor from AutoZone ( duralast ) that I tried to solve the P0401 with. Ended up having blocked EGR ports on my intake. If the coils, cops, and plugs have been changed, I suppose I'd go with fuel filter and air filters. They're cheap enough and probably need changed...
The pocket came with Velcro, attach one piece to the pocket and one to your opener. I have found that a BIC (crystal) pen cap fits nicely over one of those post slots. I just cut the long tab off the cap and it fits nicely.
Cleaned my EGR ports from the TB-to intake manifold elbow. They were full of goop. Also found a loose exhaust clamp that had been rattling under there for a little while.
Sounds like it could be your water pump to me.... Check this thread out. My inlet hose was hot as hell, but my outlet hose was only hot from the engine heat. I'd say if you can squeeze the outlet tight for more than 5-10 seconds with a hot engine, the coolant isn't flowing through it.

I don't have any real intentions of towing anything, as of yet anyways. Maybe a trailer sometime in the future... I'm more into looking to extend the life of my tranny.
